We're sharing #CoronaKindness in our communities.

As COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the United States, medical professionals and essential service personnel are facing personal protective equipment shortages. Some thoughtful Landis+Gyr employees have shared #CoronaKindness in their communities by making protective face shields, masks, and mask straps for essential workers, while safely working from home and practicing social distancing.

Whether knitting, sewing, or 3D printing, every mask helps someone in need.

Sue Beers, tax manager, is crafting face masks for employees at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. So far, she’s been able to donate approximately 300 masks. Sue feels that her volunteered time is worth it when she donates the masks to hospital employees. “They are thankful for anything they can get. It’s worth every second when you see their thankful faces. It’s not much, but it’s what I can do.”

Eric Lumpkin, manufacturing engineer, found a template for protective equipment on the National Institute of Health’s 3D Print Exchange and is using his 3D printer to help others: “I’m putting my 3D printer to work making face shields and mask straps for healthcare workers.” Currently, he has made 189 face mask straps and 26 face shields. Eric is donating them to medical offices and hospitals throughout the Lafayette, IN area.

“Between my neighbor, my son, and myself, we have six printers running 18 hours a day.”

Another engineer putting his 3D printer to good use is Eric Lange, area sales manager. Working as a team with his neighbor and son, Eric is building personal protective equipment for nursing home employees in his area. “Between my neighbor, my son, and myself, we have six printers running 18 hours a day.” Eric estimates they have donated around 200 face shields, and they recently switched one of their printers to build “no-contact” door openers for nursing homes with quarantined residents. In total, they have been able to help three nursing homes and are now looking to work with local ambulance crews as they are quickly running out of protective gear.

“Carlie, age 12 and Raquel, age 14, are making and donating masks to our friends that are immune-suppressed, first responders, and essential service personnel.”

Carlos Iga, solutions director, shared how his daughters are knitting and sewing masks for those in need. “Carlie, age 12 and Raquel, age 14, are making and donating masks to our friends that are immune-suppressed, first responders, and essential service personnel.” Carlie and Raquel have made 20 masks so far and are still working when they’re not busy completing their schoolwork at home.

We're receiving #CoronaKindness as well.

As we all know, kindness goes both ways and our Managed Services team experienced a generous donation earlier this week. DA & RF Manager, Sonia Price’s sister, Angelica Ynfante, sent face masks for the Austin Energy Managed Services team from San Diego to Austin, TX. She wanted to make sure our team stays protected while working in the field. We want to send a special thank you to her for sharing the #CoronaKindness with our team.

These are just a few of the touching stories our employees have shared about how they are donating their time and resources to give back to their communities and share #CoronaKindness. Together, we can all make a difference.
