E360 is a modern, modular meter, designed to meet the needs of more mature smart metering markets.
The meter is designed to fit various rollout strategies: it meets the needs for efficient AMI implementation independent of scale and pace of the rollout. Furthermore, E360 can adapt to the changing requirements coming from the regulatory side during the lifetime of the meter. Its architecture reduces integration costs and provides headroom for future upgrades.
Due to its groundbreaking communication solution, E360 is built for an IoT world.
The modular gateway design of E360 allows changing meter’s role in the communication network as well as the communication media used, and the modules are replaceable in the field. Furthermore, the ultimate IoT requirements for security and connectivity are thoroughly considered in its design. Clear interfaces ease the integration with Smart Home and Smart Grid applications.
Along with the introduction of E360, Landis+Gyr strengthens its communication portfolio with compelling RF mesh, cellular data networks (LTE) and G3 PLC solutions. The E360 concept covers all aspects of high performing smart metering communication in same product family.
The first version of the E360 will be introduced in the Netherlands, where the mass rollouts will start in 2017. E360 already has an order backlog of over 1 Million meters.
Landis+Gyr has developped the E360 meter with the highest standards for quality and corporate social responsibility. When signing the contract with a Dutch consortium on the delivery of more than 1,5 million meters to their AMI projects, Landis+Gyr also agreed with Alliander and Stedin on the ‘Fair Meter’ principle. These utilities have signed a ‘Green Deal Fair Meter’ with the Dutch Government. As a smart meter supplier, Landis+Gyr is committed to improve its performance regarding fair meter requirements, to establish a fair meter pilot, and to report its fair performance.
The key principles of the Fair Meter Initiative cover the processes as well as the products. They consider energy use and emissions, materials purchasing processes, transparency of production, labor conditions and safety of resources and raw materials.
At Landis+Gyr, the Corporate Social Responsibility has been deeply embedded in all of its operations for years. However, there is always room for improvement, and the Fair Meter Initiative is valuable push to strive forward and to increase the speed for further improvement. An example is the ongoing pilot study on circularity, carried out as part of the Fair Meter Initiative. The results of this pilot study will be used in the development of E360.
Landis+Gyr commits to high standards in environmental awareness and business ethics across its operations, products and services. The ‘Fair Meter’ initiative of a major customer project in the Netherlands demonstrates the company’s contribution to developing and delivering market leading, environmentally and socially conscious technologies and products.
