AEW Energie AG is a Swiss Distribution System Operator (DSO) and electricity supplier for the area of Aargau canton, one of the most densely populated regions of northern Switzerland.
The grid operator was looking for a solution that would help implement various smart grid applications in order to integrate renewable generation in the most cost-efficient way. The Landis+Gyr smart grid solution fully met their requirements. The pilot with the Landis+Gyr S760 Smart Grid Device Integrator and the Smart Com RTU has been running since spring 2015 using the SCADA system to monitor and control decentralized power generation thus avoiding overvoltages and overloading in the grid.
