On 1 December 2015, the French electricity distributor ERDF will begin the installation of the first wave of 3 million Linky smart meters in France. Landis+Gyr is one of six companies producing the Linky smart meter. By the end of 2021, some 35 million meters will be installed, a project that will cost EUR 5bn in total.
This July, Landis+Gyr was awarded a major contract to supply an initial 3 million smart electricity and smart gas meters to the Netherlands’ four distribution network operators: Liander, Stedin, DELTA Netwerkbedrijf and Westland Infra. Publicly tendered contracts worth a total of €470 million have been signed with each network operator with an option to extend, which could lead to further orders for smart meters in the future. According to national regulation, energy companies are obliged to install smart meters in every Dutch household by 2021.

Following a pan-European tender, Netz Burgenland Strom has awarded a contract to Landis+Gyr to supply Gridstream®, a smart metering solution comprised of head end system, smart meters and cutting edge G3 PLC technology.
Landis+Gyr was the supplier of choice for a country-wide rollout in the principality of Liechtenstein.
Landis+Gyr delivered a comprehensive smart metering solution covering the entire European principality of Liechtenstein. The publicly owned utility Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke (LKW), the sole supplier of electricity in the country, decided to implement Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream® end-to-end solution to optimize customer service, enhance awareness of power quality and facilitate outage detection.
